Large Bowl
September 2024
I managed to get my hands on a large piece of wood from the club.
This wood had only recently been cut down from a tree in a garden so was quite damp.
I removed the bark then trimmed it up to fit the lathe. I then turned a rough shape of a bowl with plenty of width and depth to work with at a later date. Having less volume should help it dry out faster.
There are 2 small cracks in the wood so I filled them with superglue once roughly turned.
There seems to be some stunning grain and spelt in the wood so it looks like it will return a good result.
It needs to sit for a few months to fully dry out so whilst I turned this in September 2024, it will be a project to be completed some time next year.
