Sentiero Degli Dei (The Path of the Gods) September 2015
If ever you are on the Amalfi Coast just below Naples in Italy, you have got to take time to do the
'Sentiero Degli Dei' -- The Path of the Gods.
The walk we did starts from Bomerano town square and finishes at Positano. This seems to be the easiest for public transport. We caught the bus to Amalfi then took a taxi to Bomerano, but there is a bus that runs to Bomerano from Amalfi if you have more time.
The views are to die for.
You can see all of the southern side of the Amalfi coast to its most westerly tip with stunning views throughout.
The path itself is solid under foot but care must be taken as some of it is loose gravel and very rocky. Having said that, it is not difficult and only consists of slight gradients... nothing too steep. It must me noted though that the finish of the walk comprises of around 1700 downward steps. Alternatively, you can get a bus or a taxi from Montepertuso to Positano for only a few euros and miss out the steps completely... nah!
I recommend walking the path in this direction (East to West) as not only it is slightly downhill, but you get better views whilst walking... (walking it in the other direction means you have to stop and turn round more).
One more thing to note and this is quite important...
If you research this walk on the internet, many people recommend the walk from Bomerano to Nocelle. This is OK if you want to end up in Nocelle, but if you want to finish in Positano, finishing in Nocelle means a considerable walk along a busy and narrow main road back to Positano... not nice, but hey... the world is your Lobster... you can do whatever you like!
I could have filled this page with a thousand photos but please enjoy the selection below.
