Spain - Picos de Europa 2022
Having not been able to get to Spain for the past 2 years due to Covid restrictions, September 2022 eventually brought the opportunity to get there on the motorbike following moving it on for the last 2 years.
We rode down to Portsmouth to catch an evening 'Brittany Ferry' across the Bay of Biscay then disembarked in Santander on the Northern Spanish coast.

Disembarking at 08:00 enabled us to ride to San Vicente de la Barquera (Map Location) for breakfast.
We followed this by a trip on a funicular to a remote village called Bulnes in the mountains then travelling on to the Hotel del Oso (which we can highly recommend).
The following day, we took the Fuente De cable car into the mountains (Map Location)
followed by lunch at Taberna Mirador Peña Sagra (Map Location) with stunning views.
The next day, we rode to the Sanctuary of Covadonga where there is a shrine known for a chapel in a cave along with a Basillica and museum (Map Location).
Further travelling that day took us to the viewpoint that is known as Mirador del Fitu with a 360 degree viewpoint stretching towards the coast in front and the mountains behind (Map Location) ending the day in
Cangas de Onis (Map Location).
The following day took us for a ride to through the mountains to Mirador de Oseja de Sajambre (Map Location), Mirador del Tombo (Map Location), Collado de Llesba (white bear viewpoint - Map Location), Zona Descanso (Road Clock Sundial - Map Location) and Potes.

(Map Location) to Fuente del Chivo (Map Location), Las Rozas (derelict church in a lake - Map Location), Natural Bridge (Map Location) ending the day at Posada el Prado Mayor.
The following day we rode through Vega de Pas (Map Location) to Mirador Pena Cabarga (Map Location) which has a view of Santander from a lofty telecommunication hilltop.
Our last day in Spain took us over the mountains to Bilbao and a chill out in the hotel pool before the trip home via Brittany Ferries from Bilbao to Portsmouth.
